My Profession
After completing my BA Hons in Design in Wales, UK, I pursued a career in education, qualifying as a secondary school teacher. My passion for art and design led me to teach these subjects to students aged 11 to 18 in a vibrant, multicultural school setting. This experience not only allowed me to share my love for creativity with my students but also enriched my understanding of diverse perspectives in the classroom.
I have also taught people with special educational needs, from ages 10 to 70 years old.
Teaching in such a dynamic atmosphere has been both rewarding and inspiring, as I witnessed the unique talents and growth of each individual.
Family
After 16 years dedicated to the field of education, I transitioned to becoming a full-time mother to my three children, two of whom have special needs. This new chapter in my life sparked a creative journey that began in 2013, as I started crafting my own creations. Heavily influenced by Japanese culture, my work reflects the intricate beauty and depth of this tradition. Each piece I create is a blend of my experiences as a mother and my passion for art, allowing me to express the unique stories of my cultural background.
Growth
Since 2013, I have built a strong reputation in my local community through my dedicated work and high-quality creations. My commitment to excellence has allowed me to refine my skills and consistently meet the needs of those I serve. Since March 2024, I have expanded my impact by conducting a series of successful workshops, sharing my knowledge and expertise with others. These workshops have not only empowered participants but also fostered a sense of collaboration and creativity within the community. Through these efforts, I continue to inspire and uplift those around me, creating a positive ripple effect that enhances the local landscape.
For several years, I have been actively involved in face painting within my local community, bringing joy and creativity to special events. My passion for this art form allows me to transform faces into vibrant works of art, delighting both children and adults alike. Whether it’s a birthday party, a community festival, or a family gathering, I strive to add a magical touch that enhances the celebration. The smiles and laughter I receive in return motivate me to continue sharing my skills, creating lasting memories for everyone involved. Each painting tells a story, and I take pride in contributing to the happiness of my community through this unique artistic expression.
Culture
Growing up in a multicultural environment has profoundly shaped my identity. With Japanese parents, I was born in Ireland, which provided me with a unique blend of cultural influences from an early age. My childhood in England further enriched my experiences, allowing me to embrace diverse traditions and perspectives. Now residing in Birmingham, UK, I carry with me the vibrant spirit of my upbringing, navigating life with an appreciation for both my Japanese heritage and the multicultural tapestry of British society. This journey has instilled in me a deep sense of belonging, as I weave together the threads of my diverse background into a rich and fulfilling narrative.
